Neuware - >This is not a book for the academic shelf, padded with footnotes and obscured by jargon. It is a working manual-clear, forceful, and uncompromising. With careful instruction drawn from Scripture, the Reformers, the Puritans, and thirty years of pastoral labor in preaching, McMahon walks the preacher through the weighty calling of proclaiming God's Word: from exegesis and outlining, to doctrinal development, to application and homiletics. Every chapter presses the point-this work is holy work, and must be done precisely for the glory of Jesus Christ.

In our modern day pulpit speakers cause the people of God to groan under the weight of shallow anecdotes and lifeless performances, "A Primer on the Art of Expository Preaching" calls "preachers" back to the sacred task of rightly dividing the Word of truth. With the clarity of a craftsman and the conviction of a herald, C. Matthew McMahon sets forth the forgotten essentials of sermon preparation, doctrinal precision, and Spirit-filled delivery.
This is not a book for the academic shelf, padded with footnotes and obscured by jargon. It is a working manual—clear, forceful, and uncompromising. With careful instruction drawn from Scripture, the Reformers, the Puritans, and thirty years of pastoral labor in preaching, McMahon walks the preacher through the weighty calling of proclaiming God’s Word: from exegesis and outlining, to doctrinal development, to application and homiletics. Every chapter presses the point—this work is holy work, and must be done precisely for the glory of Jesus Christ.
Whether you are a seasoned minister or newly entering the pulpit, this volume will sharpen your understanding, convict your heart, and deepen your resolve. Preaching is not public speaking. It is not suggestion. It is the ordinance God uses to convert, to sanctify, and to shake the gates of hell. And if a man refuses the labor it demands, let him get out of the pulpit and into the pew.
Read this book slowly. Pray as you go. Look to Christ. Then preach the Word with gravity, clarity, and fire.
