About this Item
A vintage bound volume that includes issues of McClure's Monthly Magazine published Mary 1897 to October 1897. McClure's was an important periodical of the late 19th Century and early 20th century that included works by major literary figures and ground-breaking journalism of a famously muck-raking variety. This volume includes poems by Walt Whitman and Rudyard Kipling and short stories by Kipling and A. Conan Doyle, and as installments of a serialized novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. Includes non-fiction by Ida Tarbell, Lincoln Steffens, Ray Stannard Baker, and Hamlin Garland among others. Of particular interest is Stannard's piece on the dramatic events surrounding Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth. Bound in cloth covers with all the text pages but not including the original covers of individual issues. Includes an index. Has tanning of the page edges and edge wear on the covers.
