This second edition expands upon the success of the first edition, and has been substantially revised and updated.
Written by well-known experts in different areas of applied mathematics, physics, and composite engineering, this book is mainly focused on continuous fiber reinforced composites and their ever increasing range of applications (for example, in the aerospace industry), though it also covers other kind of composites. The chapters cover a range of topics including, but not limited to: scaling and homogenization procedures in composites, thin plate and wave solutions in anisotropic materials, laminated structures, fiber-reinforced nonlinearly elastic solids, buckling and postbuckling, fracture and damage analysis of composites, and highly efficient methods for simulation of composites manufacturing such as resin transfer molding. The results presented are useful for the design, fabrication, testing and industrial applications of composite components and structures.
This book is an essential reference for graduate and doctoral students, as well as researchers in mathematics, physics and composite engineering. Explanations and references in the book are sufficiently detailed so as to provide the necessary background to further investigate the fascinating subject of composites modeling and explore relevant research literature. It is also suitable for non-experts who wish to have an overview of the mathematical methods and models used for composites, and of the open problems in this area that require further research.
Vladislav Mantič is Professor of Continuum Mechanics at the School of Engineering, University of Seville, where he is currently teaching Solid Mechanics, Elasticity, Fracture Mechanics, Plasticity, Viscoelasticity, Finite and Boundary Element Method. He graduated in mathematical engineering from the Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering, Czech Technical University of Prague, receiving a degree with distinction and Rector Award in 1984. He received his doctorate from the Czech Academy of Sciences for his work on computer implementation of Boundary Element Method carried out at the Institute of Computer Science in Prague. Later he worked at the Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Košice, and the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Technical University of Košice, Slovakia. His current research is focused on Fracture Mechanics, in particular on its applications to predict damage initiation and propagation in composites and their joints at different scales; interface crack analysis and modelling; stress singularity analysis in anisotropic multimaterial corners; non-classical approaches in Fracture Mechanics as the Coupled Criterion of Finite Fracture Mechanics, Cohesive Zone Models, Linear Elastic-Brittle Interface Model, energetic approaches to fracture, and Surface Elasticity models. He has collaborated and published joint articles in high impact journals with researchers from many universities and research institutions like, Charles University Prague, Colorado School of Mines, FORTH, Heraklion, IMT Lucca, Kansas State University, Lulea TU, National Physical Laboratory Teddington, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, POLITO, Italy, TU Braunschweig, TU Košice, University of Aberdeen, University of Brescia, University of Leeds, and the University of Minnesota (USA), He has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed international scientific journals, edited international edited books and devised 200 communications to national and international conferences. He is among the most influential and prestigious researchers in the world on the "World's Top 2% Scientists List" in the category of "Materials".

If you use this option, we will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a cancellation on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right to cancel before the cancellation period has expired.
Effects of cancellation
If you cancel this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to cancel with contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.
