"Maths - can I" - a phrase that the majority of students certainly do not associate with themselves at the beginning of an engineering degree program. The Maths - Can I book series aims to change this quickly and easily.
Volume 3 continues the topics from the "Core Curriculum" of the European Society for Engineering Training (SEFI), in which the essential contents and objectives of mathematics training for engineers are considered:
- Discrete Mathematics,
- Linear Algebra
Each chapter briefly introduces the topic, the terms used are defined. Many simple illustrations help to illustrate. Formulated learning objectives, each beginning with "I can…" help to tap into the math you need. Working with can lists makes your own learning success visible to students: simply untick off! In addition, it connects the learners to the meta-level of the fabric, which is crucial for sustainable remembering. The innovative didactic approach has proven itself in practice.
Each chapter also offers a variety of tasks and finally detailed solutions. There is a time for each assignment to help students choose to begin. The tasks themselves are different, partly related to application, partly for calculation, partly for clarifying the terms.
Additional materials to the book, such as computer-aided solutions to the tasks or some of the visualizations, are provided on plus.hanser-fachbuch.de.
