By Herman Mann and printed in Dedham, Massachusetts by the author. 1818, 348 pp, 7.25 x 4.75 , 8vo, hardcover original boards. In fair condition, with rubbing and wear to boards. Losses to spine, primarily towards the head, along with part of the title label. Moderate hinge wear at front and back. Text block remains bound well with minor wear. Minor marginalia and markings at front of book. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic small tears, foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. A scarce textbook primarily catering to Massachusetts students by Herman Mann (1771-1833), an American writer and historian. Mann is most famously known for being the biographer and acquaintance of Deborah Sampson (1760-1827), a Massachusetts woman who disguised herself as a man to serve in the Continental Army for 17 months during the Revolutionary War, being the most famous instance during the conflict.
