Are you a Java developer watching the AI revolution unfold — and wondering where you fit in?
The world of Artificial Intelligence has long felt like it belonged exclusively to Python developers and data scientists. But the truth is, the enterprise systems that power the real world are built in Java — and now, with Spring AI, Java developers finally have a first-class seat at the AI table.
Mastering Spring AI: Building Intelligent Applications with Spring AI is your complete, hands-on guide to integrating modern AI capabilities into Spring Boot applications — without abandoning the tools, patterns, and ecosystem you already know and love.
Inside This Book, You Will Learn To:
- Understand how LLMs really work — tokens, embeddings, transformers, and context windows explained for developers, not researchers
- Master the Spring AI ChatClient API — build fluent, multi-turn conversational applications with streaming and memory
- Engineer powerful prompts — system messages, few-shot prompting, chain-of-thought reasoning, and structured output parsing
- Build production-grade RAG systems — ingest documents, chunk and embed them, store them in PgVector or Redis, and retrieve them intelligently
- Create autonomous AI agents — wire real-world tools using the @Tool annotation, orchestrate multi-tool workflows, and add safety guardrails
- Connect services with the Model Context Protocol (MCP) — expose and consume AI tools across distributed systems using the open MCP standard
- Run fully private AI pipelines with Ollama — host open-source LLMs like Llama, Mistral, and Gemma locally with zero API costs
- Add multimodal intelligence — process images with vision models and generate visuals with DALL·E, all from Spring Boot
- Ship with production confidence — observability, token cost tracking, circuit breakers, prompt injection prevention, evaluation frameworks, and Docker-based deployment
Who This Book Is For
- Java and Spring Boot developers who want to integrate AI into their applications without switching ecosystems
- Backend engineers and architects who need to design scalable, intelligent, production-ready services
- Tech leads and senior developers who want to future-proof their skills in the AI-driven era of software development
- Self-taught developers who learn best through hands-on code, real examples, and practical patterns
What You Will Walk Away With
By the time you finish this book, you will have:
- A deep, practical understanding of how AI models work and how to use them effectively
- The ability to integrate any major LLM provider — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or local Ollama models — into any Spring Boot application
- A complete RAG system built from scratch, from document ingestion to intelligent retrieval
- Working AI agents capable of taking real-world actions through tool calling
- Production-ready patterns for observability, resilience, security, and cost management
- The confidence to lead AI initiatives in your team or organization
What's Inside
- 10 comprehensive chapters covering AI foundations to production deployment
- Hands-on code examples with complete Spring Boot projects
- Deep dives into RAG, agents, MCP, multimodality, and local models
- A full glossary, project structure reference, and provider comparison guide
- Real-world patterns used by professional engineering teams
If you are ready to build intelligent, production-ready Java applications and lead your team into the future of AI-driven development — this is the book you have been waiting for.

Store description
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
