Modern software development demands more than writing great code—it requires building applications that are portable, scalable, resilient, and ready for production. OpenShift combines the power of Kubernetes with enterprise-grade developer tools, enabling teams to build, deploy, and manage cloud-native applications with confidence.
Mastering OpenShift Development is a practical, hands-on guide designed to help developers quickly become productive on the OpenShift platform. Whether you're new to containers or already familiar with Kubernetes, this book provides a structured learning path that takes you from foundational concepts to deploying real-world, production-ready applications.
Through step-by-step examples and practical projects, you'll learn how to package applications into containers, deploy workloads, expose services, manage configurations, automate deployments, monitor application health, and scale applications to meet changing business demands.
Inside this book, you'll learn how to:
Understand the architecture and core components of OpenShift
Build and package applications using containers
Deploy applications with Kubernetes-native workflows
Manage projects, namespaces, images, and registries
Configure networking, services, routes, and ingress
Work with ConfigMaps, Secrets, and persistent storage
Scale applications manually and automatically
Monitor application performance and troubleshoot deployments
Build practical CI/CD workflows for continuous delivery
Apply cloud-native best practices for reliable software delivery
Designed for software developers, cloud engineers, DevOps practitioners, and technical professionals, this book emphasizes practical implementation over theory, helping you build the skills needed to develop and deploy modern applications in enterprise OpenShift environments.
Whether you're preparing for production workloads, modernizing existing applications, or beginning your cloud-native journey, Mastering OpenShift Development provides the knowledge and hands-on experience to build with confidence.
