Master Professional API Development — Book 3 in the Complete ASP.NET Core Developer Series
You’ve built applications. You understand structure. Now it’s time to think like a professional backend engineer.
Welcome to Book 3 of the Complete ASP.NET Core Developer Series — the stage where you transition from building standalone applications to designing robust, scalable, production-ready APIs.
In today’s software landscape, applications don’t exist in isolation. They communicate with mobile apps, frontend frameworks, third-party services, and other systems. At the center of all this interaction is one essential skill: building well-designed APIs.
This book is your structured, no-shortcuts guide to mastering ASP.NET Core Web API development at a professional level.
What You’ll Learn
-
How to shift from application-first to API-first thinking
-
How to design APIs that are clean, consistent, and easy to consume
-
Best practices for routing, controllers, and endpoint design
-
Proper use of DTOs, validation, and model binding
-
How to apply dependency injection and clean architecture principles
-
Real-world strategies for error handling, logging, and versioning
-
How to secure APIs using authentication and authorization
-
Techniques for building APIs that are scalable, testable, and maintainable
-
How to think and operate like a production-level backend developer
Why This Book Stands Out
As part of the Complete ASP.NET Core Developer Series, this book builds directly on the foundations established in earlier volumes.
It doesn’t repeat beginner concepts. Instead, it elevates your perspective.
You’ll go beyond:
-
“My code runs”
-
“I followed a tutorial”
…to:
-
“This API is designed correctly”
-
“This system can scale in real-world environments”
Every chapter is crafted with intentional pedagogy, real-world relevance, and professional engineering judgment, ensuring you gain skills that actually matter in production.
Who This Book Is For
This book is ideal for:
-
Developers who have completed Books 1 and 2 in the series
-
ASP.NET Core developers ready to specialize in backend and API development
-
Engineers preparing for real-world projects or technical interviews
-
Self-taught developers seeking to bridge the gap to industry standards
The Outcome
By the end of this book, you won’t just know how to build APIs — you’ll know how to design them properly, structure them for growth, and deliver them with confidence.
If you are committed to becoming a job-ready, professional ASP.NET Core developer, this book is the turning point in your journey.

Store description
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book.
