Vignette title, ads on inner & rear wrappers. Orig. yellow printed paper wrappers, blocked in blue, brown, & red, lettered in blue & black; extremities sl. rubbed. A beautiful bright copy. Not in Glover & Greene. Hubin p.368. This edition not recorded on Copac. Cover image depicts a man with with a small monkey on his back. The mystery surrounding the extraordinary theft of the Gairlie Rubies, a collection of 811 perfect gems set in various pieces of jewellery. Austin J. Small, 1894-1929, was an English author known for his works of genre fiction including detective stories, science fiction, adventure, westerns, thrillers, and romances. He served in the Royal Navy during the First World War, and was inspired to write after meeting Jack London; he tragically died by suicide when he was only 34.
