Synopsis
This work provides a survey of mass communication and popular culture. In this edition articles have been updated and a number of new articles have been commissioned including Simon Firth on the entertainment industry, Christine Geraghty on popular culture and resisitance, Janet Wasko on the sociology of Disney, and Daniel Hallin on the American media system and the marketplace. The book seeks to reflect the changing emphases in the study of mass communication and society.
