Meet Ed Race who made his trade as a vaudeville gun-juggler supreme, known on stage as "The Masked Marksman" and for handling six loaded .45s to the delight of the crowds. But when this line of work became too tedious, Race took advantage of his multi-state P.I. licenses to solve crimes across the country. This collection includes his next six stories:
- Curtain Call for the Corpse: In his stage career as the Masked Marksman, Ed Race had brought down the house with fancy shooting-but it was nothing like the gun-tricks he had to perform, to save two innocent lovers from a monster who was hunting them down with dope-crazed killers!
- A Cue for the Corpse: On the stage, Ed Race performed gun-miracles for packed houses. But the night he stood between three killers and a trapped girl, Ed became the chief actor in the world's deadliest shooting act!
- Headliner From Hell: As the Masked Marksman, Ed Race's gun handling was a stage sensation. But he never had to shoot straighter or faster than the day he faced a street-corner beggar who demanded a forty-thousand-dollar handout-or Ed's corpse fried in its own fat!
- Death's Booking Agent: Ed Race, who could shoot a gnat's eye out at twenty paces, didn't move when he felt the pickpocket's hand in his coat. Later, he wished he had-because the hand, instead of taking something, left more blood-stained money than Ed might have needed to buy his way out of the murder frame that followed!
- Bank-Night for Corpses: The audience wildly applauded Ed Race's amazing six-gun accuracy, little realizing that the Masked Marksman would step from the stage directly into a kidnap-and-murder tangle which would call for shooting more fabulous than any vaudeville exhibition-while three precious lives hung in the balance!
- Murder's One-Man Show: It was only a tiny scrap of canvas-yet it widowed a cop's new bride, made a millionairess into a thief-and framed Ed Race, the Masked Marksman, into a murder picture calling for more deadly accurate shooting than had ever thrilled Ed's theater-going fans!
