"Under Claim of Witness."
A Ligent walks the Path toward the Calyx, a mask on his face and a following at his back that the ledgers cannot account for. He gives away what cannot be given. He is recognized at every gate, and every gate lets him pass.
The institution sends its best Hunter to trace his line and confirm the threat.
She is very good at what she is. She reads ground no one else can read, follows what refuses to be followed, and closes a distance no one told her she was never meant to close.
Everything she finds is true. None of it is what she was sent to find.

THE PATH RUNS ON RECORDS
Every station keeps a ledger. Every traveler wears their history on a cord at the wrist. Frayed. Cut. Renewed. A verdict, tied in plain sight. To move through this world is to be counted. Filed. Accounted for. By an institution that calls its bureaucracy devotion.
A Ligent walks the Path. A holy walker. His passage, the Penitent Faith's ledgers cannot explain. A Hunter is sent to track the mystery of it. Through settlements. Through archives. Through the Calyx itself.
As the hunt proceeds, Echoes of the Path drift in. Brief views of another place. Another time. What the Path grants. What it takes. Beyond the two people at its center.
The prose shifts too. Between a hunted man's road. And the world's own official record of him.
A debut novel, decades in the works.
