ISBN: 82-993009-0-8, Light chipping or scuffing to the jacket corners; little wear overall. In Brodart for preservation. Text is clean. 'The Masai, one of the most legendary of the African peoples are brought to life by the vivid text of [the author] and pictures by Esben Riddervold. Together they have captured the essence of this proud, independent and virile people. The book follows the history of the Masai from their invasion of the East African savanna from the north, their dominance over the area, how, at the turn of the century, they and their cattle recovered from disease and famine to how they are coping with the influence of European culture and values. Through descriptions of their ancient culture, social structures, relationships between the sexes and the significance of the circumcision ceremonies, the author reveals his deep admiration for the distinctive character of the Masai.' Illustrated. 136 pages. 8.5 x 10.5 inches.
