Have you ever wondered why your marriage can be so hard? Have you ever wondered if you are weird, crazy, or just unlucky? Have you ever doubted that you could stay in your marriage, simply because of how stressful and challenging it can be? If so, it does not mean you are weird or crazy. While Disney films have made it easy for us to romanticize loving relationships, most of us live in the world outside of "once upon a time." And, we've recognized that our "happily-ever-afters" do not have a solid guarantee. The divorce numbers are proof of it. And what can we make of those numbers? If we could talk to some of those people who have somehow stayed married for decades, what would they say? Would they tell us that marriage is always fun? Of course not.

Most of them would say that marriage has been a long, difficult, and sometimes even unbearable road. They would say it has come at a cost. And yet, many of them would still say that it has been one of the most meaningful, worthwhile, and rewarding things they have ever been a part of. Are they delusional? Or, could it be that good things REALLY DON'T come easy? A successful marriage is good. Hmm... maybe it too will not come easy.

Since this books publishing in 2016, numerous people have shared their feedback. Some have given the book their praises. Others, their complaints. In those less favorable reviews, the thing that most people were unsatisfied with was not the book's quality of work. Rather, it was the book's message. It told them something they did not agree with. And, this was often something that could not be improved. Because, this book refuses to people-please. It will not pander to naïve hopes that fairy tales do exist. It will not condone abandoning marriage the second it starts to get tough. It will not tell people that marriage is going to be easy. Rather, it takes a risk in saying things that are not always popular. Caution to those who prefer their pills to have a generous sugar-coating.
