Item description from seller

A fourth edition of Sir Walter Scott's successful poem of historical romance bound in a lovely half calf binding. An epic poem by Sir Walter Scott, telling of the sixteenth century Scotland and England, concluding with the Battle of Flodden of 1513. A story of treason, lust, and dishonesty evolving around Lord Marmion's lust for a rich, engaged woman. The first edition appeared in 1808 and many editions followed within the same year. The present copy is of the fourth edition. In six cantos, with numerous notes to the rear. Lacking the half title. In a half calf binding over marbled boards, new endpapers, with four raised bands and decorative gilt to the spine. Externally very smart with only minor shelf wear, a touch of sunning to the spine, minor rubbing to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Odd minor spotting scattered to the leaves throughout. Very Good Indeed.
