Synopsis:
Text in Dutch & English - a "portfolio" of some of Ans Markus's paintings. Some of her work pays hommage to many classic [From the Introduction by Wim Van Der Beek]..."Outstanding paintings by Magritte, Modigliani, Klimt, Picasso, Klee, Bacon, Dubuffet, Raveel, Leger and Van Gogh are conscientiously, refreshingly and inventively placed in a new context. Ans Markus is not just concerned with paying homage, however. She shows that she can cope with this work artisitcally without lapsing into plagiarism or cliches. The end result is a series of double portraits in which a diversity of styles harmonises into a new unity." Published in Amsterdam MCMXCIV
