It is estimated that between September 1943 and April 1945 some 90,000 Allied and 110,000 German soldiers died in Italy. No campaign on the Western front cost the infantry more than Italy, in lives lost and wounds suffered. This remarkable 5 DVD set is the story of the men and the battles-some of the most savage on any front of the Second World War-that lead to the fall of the first Axis capital on the road to victory. Road to Rome is an action-packed history of the war in the Mediterranean as seen through the lenses of the combat cameramen and told by the heroic men who fought their way from mountain top to mountain top on their way up the boot of Italy. From the deserts of North Africa, on to the rocky shores of Sicily, to the hills of bloody Monte Cassino, you will witness war as you have never seen it before.…
