Size of the binding: 8 1/2 inches x 13 1/2 in., typed title-page; typed list of Maps and Sections; fold-out map: "Reference to Land Tracts" (Anthracite Coal Region of Pennsylvania), with details added in red; brown cardboard sheets divide the five sections, and each has a red leather, gilt-stamped title tab. Shamokin Division: 10 fold-outs for these collieries: Cameron, Luke Fidler, Hickory Swamp, Hickory Ridge, Scott, Pennsylvania, Richards. Wyoming Division: 4 fold-outs for: General Surface Map & for: Stearns, Glen Lyon. Lykens Division: 5 fold-outs for: General Surface Map & for: Short Mountain, Williamstown. William Penn Colliery: 2 fold-outs showing outcrops & Colliery Buildings. Lytle Coal Company: 2 fold-outs. These fold-out maps & plans have details in blue or red, and are similar to blueprints. Some show a little, age-related tanning. Black, flexible, textured leather with the titling stamped in gold on the front cover, black watered silk endpapers. The edges show some light wear. With the bookplate of Cleveland, Ohio based book collector and industrialist, William G. Mather (1857-1951), on the front paste-down endpaper. Very scarce item.
