The ultimate purpose of this festschrift is to glorify God by honouring His good and faithful servant Dr. Enoch Wan who “keeps the Message alive and does a thorough job as God’s servant.”
MAP: Missionary, Anthropologist, Professor - A Festschrift for Dr. Enoch Wan was written by Dr. Wan’s former students and co-workers. It is their individual expressions of gratitude and respect to honour and recognize Professor Wan for his impact in each one’s life, career, and ministry.

Excerpt from the Foreword of MAP: Missionary, Anthropologist, Professor - A Festschrift for Dr. Enoch Wan:
Breathtaking changes have characterized the life and the times of Dr. Enoch Wan. Given his tumultuous life experience, it is no wonder that Professor Wan spearheaded the development of Diaspora Missiology. His cross-cultural missionary service and urban church-planting work built a foundation for Wan to ably lead intercultural studies programs for theological students and institutions. Studying and living in North America, with his Chinese background, helps explain Wan’s formulation of his Relational Paradigm that challenges conceptual Western theology. Moreover, Enoch Wan’s eventful life has played out against the backdrop of numerous dramatic events of the latter half of the Twentieth Century and first quarter of the Twenty-First, including war-torn China, Cold War relations, and multidirectional migrations. Divine Providence has unmistakably been at work in the life and times of Dr. Enoch Wan.
---
This beautifully written festschrift represents the triple crown of missiological scholarship. Its subject, diaspora missiology, represents the greatest mission challenge and opportunity of our time. Its object, Dr. Enoch Wan, represents the epitome of Christian scholarship and discipleship. Its globally representative authors emulate their teacher in their own pioneering research, their ever-expanding body of work, and their motivating missionary passion. Thank God for the life and work of Dr. Enoch Wan and for the vision and tenacity of his disciple, Joy Tira, to gather his brilliant friends to scatter abroad new paradigms and strategies for getting the Good News to everyone, everywhere.
Douglas Birdsall, Ph.D., Honorary Chairman of the Lausanne Movement
Dr. Enoch Wan’s scholarship has consistently led the way in shaping the field of Intercultural Studies—especially through his innovative work in Diaspora Missiology and the Relational Paradigm. MAP: Missionary, Anthropologist, Professor honors this legacy with intellectual rigor and heartfelt gratitude. The essays collected in this volume reflect the global breadth and theological depth of Dr. Wan’s influence, offering a resource that is as much a guide for future missiological engagement as it is a tribute to a life well lived. Readers will find in these pages a rich conversation at the intersection of academic excellence and missional passion.
