Print on Demand. This book is a collection of letters, papers, and other documents from the 17th and 18th centuries belonging to Sir Daniel Fleming of Rydal Hall in Westmoreland. The majority of the papers relate to local affairs, including elections, providing seamen for the Royal Navy, and suppressing religious dissent. The author has arranged them in chronological order and added dates to many of them that were not originally present, based on internal evidence. He has also provided a detailed introduction and footnotes to help readers understand the context of the documents. The book is a valuable resource for historians interested in county government, social life, and religious affairs in rural England during this period. It also sheds light on the career of Sir Daniel Fleming, who was a prominent figure in local government and a supporter of the Whig party. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…
