This is the definitive statement of Congregational church government, which is practiced by the majority of independent churches. Dale's believed in "Christian Universalism" and indiscriminate baptism. In spite of these two aberrations, the book has great value, examining in detail the new Testament teaching on the church and how it should be governed. A reset edition.

From the Publisher
Dale's book was published at the end of the last century and has yet to be bettered as a defence of the Congregational way of church government. He clearly sets out the biblical basis for church government and counters objections. There is an extensive appendix showing the error of the episcopal systems (rule by bishops).
The book is marred by Dale's view of indiscriminate baptism, which is why the publisher has included an additional appendix showing the historic Congregational view. Also, contact details of evangelical Congregational churches worldwide are provided.
