Government investigators storm the estate, enemy agents attempt break-ins, and Sir Henry grows desperate enough to threaten violence. Margaret faces an impossible choice: marry a traitor to protect her family's reputation, or risk everything to prevent chemical weapons from falling into enemy hands. This is no simple rescue romance. Margaret emerges as a full partner in both espionage and love, using her intimate knowledge of family history to outmaneuver enemies who underestimate her intelligence. The romance builds slowly through intellectual connection and shared danger, culminating in a love worth sacrificing social position to claim.Perfect for readers who crave: intelligent historical romance with depth, heroines who save themselves, espionage plots grounded in authentic period detail, and love stories where partnership matters more than passion.
