Synopsis:

When Bill Hitches saw a derelict showman's caravan in Scotland, where he was convalescing after a mor operation, he had no idea what adventures it would lead to. Aware of the loneliness and misery of disablement, he took the restored caravan on a journey across Europe as far as Romania, still in the thrall of the old regime, and visited homes and institutions for crippled, blind and mentally ill patients. He used the news media to highlight areas where improvements were needed and made great efforts to get action taken by the authorities.
