Made in collaboration with the Kubrick Estate and Warner Bros. Bright, clean & tight copy, unread, in AS NEW condition. "Fifty years after the film's conception, this truly exhaustive book includes hundreds of unique concept artworks and superb behind-the-scenes photographs from the Kubrick Archives. With personal testimony from co-screenwriter Arthur C. Clarke as well as extensive interviews with principal actors, special effects experts, make-up artists, and production designers." [publisher copy] "'2001: A Space Odyssey' is the most important science fiction movie ever made. And Piers Bizony's 550-page THE MAKING OF STANLEY KUBRICK'S 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY, detailing the lengthy production, is a work befitting its subject. You needn't be a sci-fi junkie to appreciate this book: You merely need to love movies. The photographs may draw you in, but Mr. Bizony's writing ties it all together. He chronicles every aspect of the production, including the movie's initially disastrous critical reception, which nearly resulted in it being pulled from theaters. Finish this and you'll feel as if you've completed an advanced course in film production."--The Wall Street Journal. "Moon children, polka-dot aliens, suckling ape suits, and many more intergalactic wrong turns are chronicled in a [mad] new behind-the-scenes book. It is larded with previously unseen photos, documents, and production art taken from Kubrick's archives. Mad is actually a good adjective here. So is magnificent."--Vanity Fair. ". . . one of the very best film books ever produced. In the eighteen-odd years I've been doing Books Monthly I have been privileged to read many books on some of my favourite films--in particular Star Wars and Star Trek, but also recent triumphs like Interstellar. None of them has ever had the depth and the breadth of information that Piers Bizony's work has. 2001: A Space Odyssey has stood the test of time--this book will too. A modern masterpiece of cinema history."--Books Monthly. " . . . meets the high standards of the previous Kubrick Archives and Napoleon books. It's an essential purchase if you love cinema. TASCHEN have done Stanley Kubrick proud, again."--Film Chronicles. "A precious collector's piece for both Kubrick fans and sci-fi enthusiasts."--Bone Magazine. Pristine hardcover w/brilliant corners & crisp edges, a square & tight binding, no jacket as issued; monolithic-like black boards wrapped in a bright belly-band illustration/cover art by Wayne Haag. Oversize [15"x7"x2"] book will likely require additional postage and insurance to get to you safely; please inquire with your specific interest & destination.…
