New old stock, a 1946 reprint of the original published 1916. 8" x 5.75" x 1" hardcover quarterbound in black pebbled leather over dark red cloth with bright gilt title and embellishments in the five compartment imprinted spine. Printer went a little heavy with the spine gilt, see photos or ask for them if not present. Tips and spine ends sharp, no names or tears, not exlib. One micro dot of soil on frt pastedown is the only evidence it has been opened before. Title continues - 'Including Reminiscences of the Turf by Balie Peyton with notes by author James D. Anderson.' Only illustration is the frontispiece - a reproduction of an Nov 23rd, 1843 advertisement that was published in the Nashville WHIG by T. Kirkman, an associate of James, Jackson announcing the standing of James' imported stallion GLENCOE at Belle Meade. This illustration replaces the picture of Great Britain which was the frontispiece in the original 1913 edition. The early history of Thoroughbred breeding & bloodlines in America.
