Add to basketThe London Pavilion sits on the corner of Shaftesbury Avenue and Coventry Street in Piccadilly Circus in London. Originally a music hall, in 1934 it was renovated and became a cinema, meant in part as the venue for the premieres of United Artists pictures. In 1986 it was converted into a shopping arcade. This is a program from August 19, 1935. The full program for the show that night, as listed, is as follows: "The latest Walt Disney Coloured Silly Symphony - 'Water Babies'" "Kings of the Turf - Interest Item" "London Pavilion Sounds News." The main feature was a film called "False Faces," known in the U.S. as "Let 'Em Have It." A gangster film, it was directed by Sam Wood, who was known for "Goodbye, Mr Chips," "The Pride of the Yankees" and his uncredited directorial work on "Gone with the Wind." Also in the program are a number of regular features including "Cinema Gosspip," "Snap Shots" (jokes), "News of the Stars," "Confessions" (a Q&A with English actress Dorothy Hammond), "New Books" ("Jonlys the Witch," "Hollywood by Starlight," "The Capsule Mystery"), "Peeps at the Plays" (an excerpt from "The Desirable Residence" on at the Citreon), a "Crossroad Competition," "Studio News," and "Amateur Stage." Also included is a full list of the cast and crew and a synopsis of the main feature. Of interest as well are the large number of contemporary advertisements. This copy is in excellent condition, with no significant blemishes. There is some slight creasing, a small tear, and some slight staining on the front cover. The staples holding the pages together have rusted, and slightly stained the surrounded paper. Internally it is in excellent condition.
