Review
From the reviews:
"This book ... calls to tackle the problem of AMD using a number of different approaches. ... The content and quality of the writing and editing are excellent. ... each chapter is clearly written and critically reviews the literature, contrasting and comparing results from different studies. ... There are excellent colour plates ... . This book provides an excellent synthesis of the research into the mechanisms of the disease ... . I recommend it to anyone interested in age-related macular degeneration." (Clinical and Experimental Optometry, Vol. 88 (5), September, 2005)
"This book is multi-authored with each chapter written by experts in the different fields that are working to unravel the mysteries and facts on age-related macular degeneration (AMD). ... The editors, and the authors of the individual chapters have to be congratulated for providing such an excellent resume on the different facets of AMD. ... Scientists working in the field of AMD will find this book extremely useful as well because it brings together in one book all the facts ... ." (Winfried Amoaku, Eye News, Vol. 13 (1), 2006)
"A hardcover book with a total of ten chapters and 200 pages. ... The reference lists are up to date as possible in a book. The illustrations are of excellent quality ... . helpful for clinicians who are interested in the basic knowledge of a widespread disease. The format of the book and the quality of the illustrations make it a pleasure to read and it can be recommended to all scientifically interested ophthalmologists or scientists from other disciplines who are interested in ophthalmology." (Hansjürgen T. Agostini, Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, Vol. 244, 2006)
