Devastated, Macallister turns to drink to cope. He spends the next few years lost in a haze of self-pity and alcohol. In the process, he loses his job, his home, and most importantly, his wife. Emma's death has left Macallister a broken man. When he's offered a job in a remote Scottish island, Macallister jumps at the chance to start over. He's looking forward to a new beginning, but soon realizes that the island is haunted by the ghosts of Emma and his past. As Macallister begins to heal, he realizes that Emma was more than just his wife. She was his best friend and confidante.
