The book covers fundamental aspects, explores the synthesis, composition, and various properties of this next-generation 2D material, and provides an account of the processing and development of MXenes and MXene-based composites.
This book stands out as a unique contribution, focusing on two major aspects: fundamentals and energy storage applications. It thoroughly examines notable findings and technological challenges in detail. The aim is to bridge the knowledge gap in materials science, nanotechnology, and energy storage devices. The book discusses recent developments in MXenes and MXene-based composites for energy storage, including applications in supercapacitors, hybrid-ion capacitors, batteries, point-of-care devices, hydrogen storage, nanoelectronics, catalysis, electro/photocatalysis, and biofuel devices. This book provides a complete set of knowledge about 2D materials, specifically MXenes.
The book serves as an excellent reference for researchers, scientists, and engineers. Moreover, it serves as a useful guide for undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. students, as well as academicians, scientists, researchers, and industry specialists working in advanced materials science, flexible electronics, nanoelectronics, and energy storage devices.

About the Author
Dr. Jay Singh is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Institute of Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, a position he has held since 2017. He earned his Ph.D. in Polymer Science from Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology in 2010, and he completed both his MSc and BSc at Allahabad University, Uttar Pradesh, India. His postdoctoral research took him to the National Physical Laboratory in New Delhi, Chonbuk National University in South Korea, and Delhi Technological University. Dr. Jay has been awarded several prestigious fellowships, including the CSIR Research Associate, DST Young Scientist Fellowship, and the DST-INSPIRE Faculty Award. His research focuses on the development of sustainable nanomaterials, including nanobiocomposites, conducting polymers, and self-assembled monolayers for clinically significant biosensors. These biosensors are designed for the estimation of bioanalytes such as cholesterol, xanthine, glucose, pathogens, and pesticides/toxins using DNA and antibodies. He has published over 165 international research papers, which have garnered more than 6,000 citations and an h-index of 43. Dr. Jay is also involved in multiple research projects funded by various agencies and has edited more than 18 books and authored over 60 book chapters with renowned publishers. His work includes the fabrication of metal oxide-based biosensors for clinical diagnostics, food packaging, drug delivery, and tissue engineering, significantly advancing our understanding of interfacial charge transfer processes and the sensing capabilities of metal nanoparticles.
Mr. Kshitij RB Singh is a postgraduate in biotechnology from Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh, India. He is currently working in the laboratory of Professor Dr. Shyam S. Pandey, Graduate School of Life Science and Systems Engineering, Kyushu Institute of Technology, Fukuoka, Japan. He has more than 80 peer-reviewed publications to his credit, has edited 15 books, and has authored more than 60 book chapters published in internationally reputed press. He is currently also involved in editing books with international publishing houses. His research interests include biotechnology, biochemistry, nanotechnology, nanobiotechnology, biosensors, and materials science.
Dr. Ranjana Verma completed her master's and doctoral degrees in Material Chemistry at Tezpur University in Assam, India, in 2012 and 2017, respectively. Presently, she serves as a Woman Scientist under the BioCare scheme of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT-BHU, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Dr. Verma has been honoured with several prestigious fellowships, including DST (NPDF), UGC (DSKPDF), UGC (JRF), and CSIR (SRF) awards. Her research endeavors concentrate on devising methodologies centered on the synthesis, characterization, modification of properties, design, fabrication, and characterization of nanostructures and photocatalysts, energy materials, biosensors, and microfluidic sensors for healthcare applications. With over 40 research papers published in peer-reviewed international journals and over 10 authored book chapters, Dr. Verma's contributions have been recognized by internationally esteemed presses.
Dr. Ravindra Pratap Singh did his BSc from Allahabad University India and his MSc and PhD in Biochemistry from Lucknow University, India. He is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biotechnology, Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak, Madhya Pradesh, India. He has previously worked as a scientist at various esteemed laboratories globally, namely Sogang University, IGR Paris, etc. His work and research interests include biochemistry, biosensors, nanobiotechnology, electrochemistry, material sciences, and biosensors applications in biomedical, environmental, agricultural, and forensics. He has to his credit several reputed national and international honors/awards. Dr. Singh has authored over 80 articles in international peer-reviewed journals, more than 85 book chapters, and has edited 15 books. He serves as a reviewer of many reputed international journals and is also a member of many international societies.
