[Film promotion] Original UK quad poster for the 1971 MGM-British Studios film starring Michael Caine, John Osborne and Britt Ekland, based on the novel 'Jack's Return Home'. Approximate dimensions 40x30 inches, landscape format. Date of release; March 1971. This is the alternate 'reviews' style first issue poster, featuring favourable quotes from the critics and a black & white illustration of Caine as Jack Carter; an affordable alternative to the standard UK quad featuring artwork by Arnaldo Putzu, which is currently valued in the region of £6000. Folded as issued, condition 'A', dark-stored for many years. The luminous/dayglo yellow-green is fresh and vibrant; most copies we have seen are UV-affected with the colour less intense; this copy is particularly rich. We would recommend UV-protected conservation framing to preserve the colour. A classic BAFTA-nominated British gangster movie with a fine Jazz soundtrack by Roy Budd, Get Carter has earned a cult status and influenced directors Quentin Tarantino and Guy Ritchie. In 1999, it ranked 16th on the BFI Top 100 British films of the 20th century; five years later, a survey of British film critics in Total Film magazine chose it as the greatest British film of all time.…
