Title: MOTION PICTURE ACTING: HOW TO PREPARE FOR ...
Publisher: Reliance Newspaper Syndicate,, New York:
Publication Date: 1913
Edition: 1st edition..
This is a very scarce, very early book about motion picture acting. The actors (male and female) shown in the photos are some of the early pioneers in the industry. Most of their names were not known to us, but certainly would be to any movie historian or collector. Particularly interesting is Chapter VI, "Salaries of Motion Picture Players. Beginner's receive $2.50 to $10.00 per day. "The weekly salaries of motion picture artists in the regular stock companies range from $35.00 to $60.00 for minor players, and from $75.00 to $250.00--and even morein exceptional cases--for the leads and stars." My how times have changed. This is just a sample of the fascinating information in this book. Covers are soiled.more on rear. Spine is darkened. Former owner's signature and date, "June 1, 1917" on front, blank end paper, else Contents are Very Good. The book is tight and probably cleanable. Overall Good+ to Very good copy. Illustrated with vintage black-and-white photographic portraits and movie stills. 101 pages. Bound in pumpkin-colored cloth covered boards. Title stamped in black on front cover and spine.
