In 1965 Professor Khawam began a meticulous process to establish a reliable, philologically rigorous, and literarily beautiful edition of what is undoubtedly one of the greatest works of world literature. Thus, the author, based on the main manuscript dating back to the thirteenth century, has achieved an impeccable version that discards some episodes added especially in the nineteenth century and instead recovers others that until now remained unpublished. We could say that we have for the first time the edition of The Thousand and One Nights as this book was originally conceived. The author includes in this work several prologues in which he shows to what extent Western publishers have been manipulating the text to make customs more accessible and to adjust the stories to the preconceived idea that the East has existed for centuries in Europe .
