Bound in original ruled full-calf gilt, rebacked with original gilt-decorated spine with raised bands, decorated gilt and contrasting maroon morocco title label, gilt laid on. Extremities worn and some browning and foxing of frontispiece plate as is usual; otherwise a crisp, clean copy. Later bookplate. Illustrated by engraved frontispiece and numerous tables in text. Literally dealing with the nuts and bolts of the Royal Navy to the time of Nelson. This study by Navy Office clerk, Charles Derrick, lists the numbers and tonnage of each type of Navy ships in each reign from 1485. Full of essential knowledge for students of the subject.
