3 volumes octavo 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches- very handsomely leather bound in full period light calf gilt, contrasting leather lettering labels, marbled boards and edges. Illustrated with 6 engraved portraits. Very occasional minor spotting. A lovely copy of the life of George II by Horace Walpole the son of Robert Walpole. Contains a preface and notes by Lord Holland. Volume one a second edition, volumes two and three first editions.The endpaper has dedication to John Hungerford Arkwright on his leaving Eton in !852- a wealthy Herefordshire dynasty.
