Boston, Isabella Stewart Gardner, 2012. Cm. 23x14, pp. 255, figure a colori e in nero nel testo, brossura. The essays in this volume consider issues in sixteenth-century Italian sculpture, a relatively neglected area of study, especially when compared with painting of the same period. The work of Benvenuto Cellini and his circle forms the starting point of the book, which discusses themes including the development of the portrait bust and the patronage of sculpture. The papers are based on a conference held at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in conjunction with the special exhibition Raphael, Cellini, and a Renaissance Banker: The Patronage of Bindo Altoviti.
