The MAKING OF NEW GERMANY. This item is unavailable. The MAKING OF NEW GERMANY

"The Making of New Germany" offers a first-hand account of one of the most turbulent periods in modern history. As the memoirs of Philipp Scheidemann, the Social Democratic leader who famously proclaimed the German Republic from a balcony of the Reichstag, this volume provides an indispensable insider's perspective on the collapse of the Hohenzollern dynasty and the birth of the Weimar Republic.

Scheidemann details the internal struggles of the SPD, the tensions of the Great War, and the dramatic events of the 1918 Revolution. Readers will find deep insights into the political maneuvers, personal conflicts, and ideological shifts that paved the way for a new democratic era in Germany. The narrative spans his early political life through the critical years of the early 20th century, capturing the spirit of a nation in transition.

As a foundational text for understanding the political landscape of pre- and post-war Europe, "The Making of New Germany" remains a vital resource for historians and students of political science. Scheidemann's prose reflects the urgency and complexity of a man tasked with building a stable government amidst chaos, making this work a compelling chronicle of leadership and social change.
