Scarce. Facsimile edition. One of only 1480 copies printed. Contains over 600 pages of illustrations and a 64-page scholarly commentary by leading medieval manuscripts expert Michelle P. Brown, which details the history of the manuscript and includes a folio-by-folio description. Binding is designed using motifs from the Psalter and the Luttrell coat of arms of six martlets argent. Bound in the finest grade Nigerian goatskin. Blocked with a design by David Eccles using gold, silver and coloured foils. 624 Pages. 14" x 9¾" Presented in a hand-made solander box, with a leather label. "The Luttrell psalter is an illuminated manuscript written and illustrated circa 1325-1335 by anonymous scribes and artists. It was commissioned by Sir Geoffrey Luttrell (died 1345), a wealthy English landowner who lived at Irnham, Lincolnshire. Along with the Psalms, the book contains luxuriously illuminated pictures of saints and bible stories, and of rural life; farming, cooking, doctoring, spouses squabbling, musicians playing, etcetera's.
