About this Item
"The Luck of Roaring Camp" was first published in the August 1868 issue of the Overland Monthly and helped push Harte to international prominence. This slender volume, which also includes Hate's infamous (notorious?) "The Heathen Chinee," is the first British edition in brown cloth-covered boards in good condition with slightly bumped corners and wear to spine. Owner nameplate (D.L. James) inside cover. Pages have the expected yellowing. Spine gilt lettering: "Bret Harte Tales and Poems.". Seller Inventory # 007007
