Grande litografia Stampa su cartoncino non retroscritto Ristampa di un'incisione di Merian Matthäus del 1640 Lucerna - Luzern Svizzera Merian - 008 Dimensioni Cm 39,00 x 25,00 Matthäus Merian, detto Matthäus Merian il vecchio (Basilea, 22 settembre 1593 - Bad Schwalbach, 19 giugno 1650), è stato un incisore e disegnatore svizzero naturalizzato tedesco, che ha operato in Germania. Allievo di Dietrich Meyer a Zurigo, dove imparò le tecniche calcografiche. Si recò successivamente a Strasburgo, Nancy e Parigi, prima di ritornare a Basilea nel 1615. L'anno seguente si recò a Francoforte sul Meno dove lavorerà per l'editore Johann Theodor de Bry (1528-1598), di cui sposerà la figlia Maria Magdalena nel 1617. Creata a Francoforte una propria bottega, diede vita ad una ricchissima produzione di incisioni riproducenti scene di battaglia e specializzandosi nella riproduzione di carte topografiche. Nel 1620 si recò con la moglie a Basilea, ma tre anni dopo ritornò a Francoforte, dove iniziò la conduzione della casa editrice del suocero, deceduto nel 1623. Nel 1626 divenne cittadino di Francoforte. L'anno successivo accolse come apprendista Wenzel Hollar destinato a diventare un celebre incisore su rame. Nel 1645 rimase vedovo e nel 1646 sposò Johanna Sybilla Heim. Nel 1647 nacque sua figlia Anna Maria Sibylla Merian. Matthäus Merian morì dopo lunghi anni di malattia nel 1650 a Bad Schwalbach, una cittadina nelle vicinanze di Wiesbaden. Svolse la maggior parte della sua carriera a Francoforte. Già in giovane età produsse delle piante cittadine dettagliate nello stile che gli era proprio, per esempio la pianta di Basilea ne 1615. Illustrò con notevoli acqueforti di piante e vedute la Topografia del geografo tedesco Martin Zeiller (1589 - 1661) in trenta volumi (1642-1688). Successivamente, verso il 1640, produsse una serie di 21 volumi conosciuti come Topographia Germaniae assieme al proprio figlio Matthäus Merian il Giovane (1621 - 1687). Queste opere contengono una grandissima quantità di piante e vedute di città, così come pure carte geografiche della maggior parte dei paesi, più volte ristampate. Riprese e completò infine le ultime parti e le edizioni dei Grandi Viaggi e dei Piccoli Viaggi iniziati dal suocero nel 1590. You have the right to withdraw from this contract within 14 days without giving any reason.
The withdrawal period will expire after 14 days from the day on which you acquire, or a third party other than the carrier and indicated by you acquires, physical possession of the last good or the last lot or piece.
To exercise the right of withdrawal, electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". We will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a withdrawal on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.
To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send your communication concerning your exercise of the right of withdrawal before the withdrawal period has expired.
Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse to you all payments received from you, including the costs of delivery (except for the supplementary costs arising if you chose a type of delivery other than the least expensive type of standard delivery offered by us).
We may make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of any goods supplied, if the loss is the result of unnecessary handling by you.
We will make the reimbursement without undue delay, and not later than 14 days after the day on which we are informed about your decision to withdraw from this contract.
We will make the reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise; in any event, you will not incur any fees as a result of such reimbursement.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or you have supplied evidence of having sent back the goods, whichever is the earliest.

Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
The right of withdrawal does not apply to:
