Love in the Qur'an and Sunna: A Comprehensive Islamic Perspective
In today's world, which is often governed by pessimism, enmity, violence, and terror, human society feels the longing for the alchemy of love more than ever. This alchemy is the most fundamental factor for de-escalating tension on an international level and is the only path to achieving world peace. However, this profound change requires self-discipline, cultural reformation, and, above all, a guiding light.
Love in the Qur'an and Sunna is a groundbreaking compilation that systematically explores the concept of love-the most foundational element of Islamic education. For the first time in the history of Islamic literature, a comprehensive collection of texts drawn from both Shi'a and Sunni hadith sources, alongside Quranic verses, is presented in an accessible and innovative structure.
The book is meticulously divided into three major parts:
- Part One: Love of People. This section delves into mutual affection, the factors that foster love, the obstacles that hinder it, the etiquette of choosing friends, and the rights and effects of true brotherhood. It also addresses the dangers of mutual hatred and how to overcome them.
- Part Two: Love of Allah. Exploring the pinnacle of spiritual affection, this part discusses the virtues, origins, and factors that endear a servant to the Creator. It highlights the characteristics of those whom Allah loves, the signs of true devotion, and the profound effects of this divine love.
- Part Three: Love for the Sake of Allah. This final section emphasizes the importance of brotherhood built on faith, detailing the spiritual rewards and lasting impacts of loving others solely for the sake of the Almighty.
Compiled by Muhammad Muhammadi Rayshahri with the assistance of Muhammad Taqdiri, this work serves as an essential guide for scholars, students, and anyone seeking to understand the deep, transformative power of love in Islam. It is a call to rekindle the glory of the Muslim nation and build an ideal community rooted in brotherhood, compassion, and the ultimate love for the Creator.
