intLove, War & The Magic Ball by Paul Divaldi is a captivating novel that tells the story of two international football superstars, Clifford and Olaf, and their families' journey to the New World after the end of the Great War. Olaf's amorous frustrations lead him to enlist in the Wehrmacht, while Clifford returns to England and joins the RAF.
In a dramatic twist, Olaf and Clifford end up as enemies during the war, with Olaf becoming a German officer and Clifford a prisoner of war in a camp where Olaf is second in command. Despite the hardships and misery of war, the prisoners find solace in playing football, which demonstrates the amazing power of the sport to unite people from different backgrounds and cultures.
Divaldi's writing is engaging and full of humor and joy, making for an uplifting read that celebrates the power of love, the greatest and strongest human force that always triumphs against all odds. The author does an excellent job of highlighting the hypnotic power of the Magic Ball, a sport that has brought people together from all corners of the globe for over a century.
What sets this book apart is its ability to convey a powerful message about the futility of war through the lens of football. The author shows how this sport can transcend political and social differences and bring people together in a spirit of unity and camaraderie.
Overall, Love, War & The Magic Ball is a poignant and inspiring novel that celebrates the beauty and power of football while also shedding light on the tragedies of war. It's a must-read for sports enthusiasts and anyone looking for a heartwarming story that will leave them feeling uplifted and inspired.ense passion that no war can ever stop.
