“Stephen J. Golds has arrived with the impact of a meteor rearranging all lifeforms within the writing landscape. The secret ingredient to his work is sincerity—this man believes in what he’s doing. As with any trade, integrity is key to a job well done. As you make your way through Stephen’s stories, you will be treated to the liberating experience of fiction untethered to the disingenuous tendencies of the zeitgeist.”
— Alec Cizak, author of Lake County Incidents
“A prolific powerhouse of crime, noir and poetry.”
— John Bowie, author of the Black Viking Thriller Series
An aging hitman is embittered by his career choice at the point of no return. A shell-shocked soldier in World War Two finds hope through death, reflected in the eyes of his enemy. A serial killer confesses in veiled, lurching prose. A mobster unravels at the zero hour of this mortal coil. A man reevaluates existence after discovering a suicide. These are some of the twenty-nine dark, twisted, and gritty stories by Stephen J. Golds collected here for the first time — bound taut with thirty poems of loss, love, and other thoughts that haunt you after last call.
