The phenomenon of Lourdes (in the Pyrenees Mountains, in France) continues to draw hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. This 300+ page, pocket-sized, copiously illustrated book is the ideal introduction for anyone preparing to travel to this remarkable place. The Lourdes Pilgrim tells the story of Lourdes, recalling the history of the apparitions to Bernadette in 1858, and then the Church's attitudes toward her and this special place over the 150 years since that time. Part Two is a mini-gazetteer that seeks to answer those questions most often asked by any visitor. It gives an indication of what is to be seen and done there today, and provides many photographs, maps, and illustrations. Part Three focuses on and provides liturgical and devotional material to enable the pilgrim to take part in the daily celebrations of the Eucharist, Penance, the Torchlight Processions, The Way of the Cross, services of Anointing of the Sick, and much more.
