Cette biographie, �crite � partir de documents in�dits, am�ne le lecteur � p�n�trer dans l'intimit� d'un homme �nigmatique au caract�re atypique dont la vie fut en permanence perturb�e par les drames d'un destin implacable. Il eut � surmonter successivement le d�c�s de ses proches, notamment la perte de trois de ses filles, avant d'�tre lui-m�me frapp� d'une h�mipl�gie qui le priva, � l'�ge de quarante-six ans, de l'usage de son bras et de sa jambe gauche.
