Paperback. Young demon hunters Beatrice and Mara have spent their lives chasing the shadow of a legend-their father, the warrior who helped cast down the Demon Emperor. Eager to prove they're the worthy Heirs to his name, they leap at the chance to join him on a mission far beyond their usual battlegrounds. But the world they think they understand is far more twisted, treacherous, and morally tangled than any training exercise could prepare them for. When an entire floating demon realm begins drifting toward a Fringe Fortress, Alighieri reluctantly brings his daughters along to investigate. As they draw closer to the anomaly, his unease grows. Something dangerous and buried long ago stirs. And when his past finally steps out of the shadows, the whole family is outflanked and unprepared. The Lost Rival, the first entry in Heirs of Alighieri saga, is a stylish and heartfelt tribute to CAPCOM's Devil May Cry: a story of legacy, power, and the burden of living up to a hero's name. As Beatrice and Mara face those who seek to watch the world burn, they must decide what kind of warriors they want to become. Will they rise to carry their father's torch, or be swept away by the very darkness they seek to destroy?
