Hardback. Foxing to edge. Wear to edges of D/J. Slight sunned spine to D/J. This is the story of a good and beautiful girl, brough up in the lawless robber stronghold of the Doones of Bagworthy, hidden away in the heart of the wild Exmoor country of North Devon. At the time when the Duke of Monmouth raised the standard of revolt against James II and the rebels throughout the west were hounded down by the infamous Judge Jeffreys, the Doones pursued their brigandage across the wild moors, robbing and killing teavellers and terrorizing the neighbourhood. This book tells how Lorna was rescued from their clutches and how the Doone's stronghold was captured and destroyed by the strength and courage of her lover, John Ridd. Illustrations. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions etc.).
