You've probably prayed the Lord's Prayer hundreds... maybe thousands... of times. But have you ever slowed down long enough to notice what Jesus was really teaching us?
In L Is for the Lord's Prayer, author Céleste Grimard invites you on an everyday pilgrimage through the prayer Christians know by heart. One phrase at a time, you'll discover that the Lord's Prayer is far more than words to memorize. It's a roadmap for living. Together you'll explore questions like:
• What does it really mean to call God "Our Father"?
• What does God's kingdom look like in everyday life?
• How do we recognize God's will?
• What is our "daily bread"?
• Why is forgiveness so difficult... and so freeing?
• How do we face temptation and evil with hope instead of fear?
Drawing on Scripture, the Catechism, the wisdom of the early Church Fathers, Christian thinkers through the centuries, and insights from psychology and everyday life, this book makes the Lord's Prayer both understandable and deeply practical. Along the way you'll find:
- Thought-provoking reflections
- Practical applications
- Journal prompts
- Discussion questions for groups
- Historical insights
- Fresh perspectives on familiar words
Whether you've prayed the Lord's Prayer for decades or are discovering it for the first time, this book will help you slow down, listen more carefully, and allow Jesus' prayer to become your way of life. Because sometimes the most familiar words still have the most to teach us.
