Ten-year-old Chase is the descendant of an ancient family entrusted with recording a forgotten, impossible world. Gifted with the ability to teleport into a parallel universe shaped by his ancestors’ collective memory, Chase is not alone—he’s joined by Oliver, another Map Keeper.
Now in their second year of adventures, the boys find their journey bound to a mysterious child named Buggy Bug—a boy born from his dead father’s body in a snake-infested mountain, then captured and held hostage by the Emperor as leverage against his banished tribe.
Through time-jumps into the key moments of Buggy Bug’s life, Chase and Oliver witness his extraordinary rise to power. From outcast to hero, Buggy Bug becomes the most feared and revered figure in the Middle Kingdom: the Lord of Water. His conquest over a devastating prehistoric flood transforms the world—but greatness comes at a cost.
Their journey takes them through haunting encounters: the last giant on Earth, the land-devouring monster Taotie, the half-tiger-half-horse beast called Bo, the spinning turtle carrying human kind's history on its back, and countless other fantastical creatures.
Chase and Oliver have seen it all. Or so they think.
