Item description from seller

Second revised edition of The Lord of the Rings trilogy, with new forward and extensive revisions by Tolkien. Published in the U.S. in 1965 as a book club edition, this marked the first U.S. hardcover publication of the fully revised, authorized and corrected Lord of the Rings, with the same dust jacket design by Robert Quackenbush as the 1967 U.S. trade edition, but predating that edition by two years. Eighth, seventh, and seventh printings respectively. Near fine condition on all three volumes with maps at back of each book (drawn by Tolkien's son Christopher) in near fine publisher's original slipcase. Very good plus condition on dust jackets with minor sunning and edgewear on spines (see photos). A very collectible boxed set of this beloved trilogy in a beautifully preserved 1965 edition.
