Item description from seller

The first 3 volumes in Tolkien's beloved epic, in handsome hardcover editions with dust jackets from c. 2001, issued to correspond to the new films from New Line Cinema, photos from which grace the top edges of all DJ back covers. The texts conform to the standard Houghton Mifflin hardcover edition from 1988, "the most faithful to the author's intent, & in a typographical sense, the most near-to-perfect text.ever." Each book has matte black cloth-covered boards lettered in silver to spine, with copper & silver decorative image to front board. All are FIRST EDITIONS, First Printings in this format (first, thus) & orig. came in a slipcase, which is NOT present. Alll 3 appear As New & feel never opened! Flawlessly clean & bright & unmarked in equally perfect DJs. Folding maps firmly bound into read endpapers are intact & obviously never opened either. A stunning trilogy! Our photos depict the Exact book you will receive, never "stock'' images of books we don't actually have! Same Day Shipping on all orders received by 2 pm Weekdays (Pacific time); later orders, Weekends & holidays ship very next business day.SORRY: set it too large for expedited domestic or international shipping without preapproval of extra postage (at least double per USPS rates).
